After a rather, alright I mean very(!), chilly week what better way to warm up this weekend than with a lovely Roast Sunday Lunch.

Here’s Some of Our Sarah Kenny Favourite Sunday Lunch Venues:
(other Roast Lunches are available!)
The Pump House, Merchants Road  Hotwells, Bristol BS8 4PZ T:0117 927 2229
This acclaimed gastropub is housed in a former Victorian pumping station and it is one of my personal favourites due to its waterside location. In the summer its lovely to sit outside with a G&T and a few nibbles and sit and watch to the world go by. However this time of year an indoor roast in the upstairs dining room overlooking the water is much more inviting and a real treat too! You will not get your run of the mill roast here.  Currently on the menu is ‘Overnight roast dry aged rib of Aberdeen Angus beef’, ‘Roast leg of salt marsh lamb’, ‘Rolled spare rib of woodland reared pork’ each served with their own complimentary and locally sourced vegetable and sauces. The menu also includes a fish and vegetarian option. Reservation can be booked between 12 noon & 2.30pm.
The Town House, 85 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 2NT
I am yet to venture to the Town House on Whiteladies Road but I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about this their Sunday Roasts. The meat is both locally sourced and free range and comes served with all the traditional trimmings, including Yorkshire puds! There is also an imaginative veggie option on the menu wish is a refreshing change for us veggies, (yes, that’s right, I am a veggie!), the current option being a ‘celeriac and apple nut roast’. The portion sizes size are generous so I hear and a great atmosphere to boot. You won’t have to rush to get there if you’ve had a heavy night the night before as the Roast are served from 12 -9pm.

The Rummer Hotel,  All Saints Lane, Old City, Bristol BS1 1JH  T: 0117 9294243
Tucked away down a side street off Corn Street, this hidden gem may not currently be on your Roast Radar but believe me it needs to be! Everything is made on the premises; the gravy is rich, the vegetables local and seasonal, and the Yorkies crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. At the Rummer they serve Topside of Hereford Beef every Sunday, at least one other meat option, and always a delightful vegetarian option. If you’re not planning anything too adventurous for the rest of the afternoon you linger a little longer and sample their superb cocktail menu! They have a wonderful array both classic and rather curious cocktails that are most certainly worth a sample.
The Clifton Sausage, 7 Portland Street, Bristol BS8 4JA   T: 0117 973 1192
Located just around the corner from our SK HQ we could not leave out the now infamous Clifton Sausage! This Clifton Village establishment is not only a Sunday Roast favourite but the preferred watering hole of a certain senior SK employee.
On their Sunday Menu is of course sausages but also a selection of more traditional roasts including a vegetarian option. For those with a bigger appetite and elasticated waste band, starters and puddings are also on the menu – the Dark Chocolate and Praline Mousse, Hazlenut Liquer Cream has already got our taste buds tingling!
