The Big Bristol Food Fight…. Vegfest May 2015 V Grillstock July 2015

Being a farmer’s daughter, the word, ‘vegetarian’ was a bit blasphemous in our household, so I can’t really say that Vegfest is entirely my cup of tea. However, I can also say that the ‘food competition’ which is one of the highlights of Grillstock is not something that I will be entering; however, I am aware that there are many who think that I should!

Vegfest 2015 is a two day festival down at the Amphitheatre this weekend of the 23rd and 24th May. It boasts over 150 stalls, which aren’t just food; there is bodycare through to accessories. Obviously you have the vegan only caterers on site as well, but there are also cookery demos and children’s cookery classes.

Gates open at 11am on both days and close at 10pm on the Saturday and 9pm on the Sunday. Music is provided by LTJ Bukem and Alfredo and entry is no more than £5.00. The organisers have specifically asked attendees not to bring pets.

So if a nut roast is your thing, but you are looking for something a little bit more adventurous, get down there!

Full lists of events can be found here.

Grillstock falls on the 11th and 12th July this year and is a must for most men to be honest, as men do seem to dominate any BBQ! It promises meat, mayhem and madness…you can also find this festival down in the Amphitheatre. This one is slightly pricier starting at £25.00 for the Sunday.

De La Soul headline the music along with GLC. There is plenty of food to try, and competitions to enter as well as stalls to buy your essential BBQ wares from. So if you need a testosterone hit sounds like this is the thing for you! You can find further details here.
