For the past seven years in the run up to Christmas, a German-themed Christmas Market has taken place in the pedestrianised area of Broadmead, based in the Bristol Shopping Quarter.
38 traditional chalets lit up with festive lights line the streets, with the Christmas nativity Pyramid, giant advent calendar and beer gardens combined to create a merry atmosphere in the heart of the city centre shopping area.
This year, the market entertainer is Der Alpen Klaus who performs a mixture of Bavarian style music and covers of popular music. Visitors can wander along to find traditional German Christmas decorations, lights, nativity scenes and gifts, including wooden toys, baskets and soap. Delicious festive food and drink is on offer including the now famous gluhvein, bratwurst, waffles, and gingerbread hearts.
This year the market will run from Friday 6th November to Tuesday 22nd December. The market is open 10am to 8pm every day, with the beer garden remaining open until 10pm.
