Bishopston has experienced a population boom over the past few years and has become a popular alternative to areas such as Redland, Westbury Park and Henleaze.

Shopping – Gloucester Road is filled with all kinds of shops and is considered the main shopping area for Bishopston. Quirky vintage clothing and record shops are particularly popular.

Schools – Colston’s Girls’ School, Bishop Road Primary School and St. Bonaventure’s Catholic Primary School.

Age of houses – Sharing its boarders with both Cotham and Redland, the houses in Bishopston are typically Victorian family homes and terraced or semi-detached houses.

Main road – Gloucester Road runs through Horfield, with a huge variety of individual shops and cafes.

Main attractions – St Werburghs City Farm, Bristol County Cricket Ground, street art in Stokes Croft and again, Gloucester Road.

Restaurants – Great cafes including café Ronak and café Lazz are located on Gloucester Road as well as restaurants including Biblos, Gallimaufry and Zazu’s Kitchen and many pubs.

Little known fact – Bishopston was the home of 1933 Nobel Prize–winning physicist Paul Dirac, who lived on Monk Road. Bishopston was also home to television presenter Adam Hart-Davis for many years.
