It’s the last few days at school before half term and Bristol has a week jam-packed with events for the holidays…
With only a few days left to go before the half term break you might be looking for things to do during the holidays… Bristolians look no further – we have plenty of fab February half term fun for you all!
If you’re looking for a lovely day outside, head to Tyntesfield. From 6th – 21st February there will be special activities in place for children of all ages including mysterious trails, den building, making mud pies and welly wanging! Lots to do and the grounds are a lovely spot for a picnic on a nice day.
The Wild Place Project is a conservation centre based out near Bristol Golf Club. Visitors will see wildlife from not only the UK but from across the world too and admissions help to conserve and protect endangered species and habitats. With a “Barefoot Trail” and “Fun Fort” available throughout the year, this half term the centre has created “Mission Explore” too where participants who complete all 10 outdoor missions will win an explorer’s prize! Missions include building dens for mini beasts, spotting birds from inside of bird hides, making leaf kebabs and much much more! There will also be colouring competitions, face painting, animal talks and a climbing course called the “Leap of Faith”. Not to be missed if you are looking for an action filled day of fun and they are currently offering children’s admission for just £5 online here.
With a similar admission offer in place is Bristol Zoo and their “Petal Power” event (£5 for children). Children can join in with the zoo’s giant flower collage and flower pot decorating activities and can also follow the “Petal Power Trail” in search of the bugs hidden throughout the zoo grounds. There will of course be animal talks and feeds throughout the day as always and so the zoo will be a great day out for the whole family.
The zoo is also holding a Bird Box Bonanza this coming Thursday… As there are a large number of birds setting up home on the Downs at this time of the year, the Bird Box Bonanza is a morning of games and activities created to help children discover more about birds and their nests. After learning about the birds in the morning, the afternoon will then be spent making their own nest boxes to take home for their feathered friends.
(For further details and pricing on both of the zoo’s events, click here).
And finally, for something a little different for those over 6 years, why not try the Children’s Willow Weaving Workshop at Wildgoose Space in St Werburghs this week… This lovely workshop is run by a qualified forest school leader and uses wholly natural and recycled materials. Refreshments are included and anything made during the class can be taken home.
Half term looks like it’s set to be a lot of fun…!
