So, I’m beginning to see a food related theme running through my blogs recently! But as we enter the spring and the sunshine is on its way back, what better opportunity for us all to eat, drink and be merry?!
Now in its seventh year, the Foodies Festival has become an important event in Bristol’s culinary calendar and will welcome over 22,000 visitors on the Downs this coming weekend from 13th – 15th May 2016. For those that have never been before, you are in for quite a treat! With over 120 different stalls to peruse, Foodies is a great opportunity for visitors to meet artisan producers (not just from our beloved south-west region but from spots from all over the country also) and stock up on award winning produce.
Events over the weekend will include the Aga Rangemaster Chefs Theatre where top chefs will showcase their wonderful skills, “Feel Good Foods” demonstrations and discussions, champagne and wine masterclasses and tutorials, blindfold taste bud challenges, a Cake & Bake stage, chili eating contest…and the list just goes on!
The festival will host the West heats of the British Street Food Awards and so across the three days, visitors can feast on signature dishes served by a multitude of street vendors and then vote for their favourite.
Festival-goers will certainly not go hungry either with dishes from all over the world on offer on Street Food Avenue (there will be a special focus on Brazilian specialities here to celebrate the Olympic host’s cuisine), freshly baked breads, sponges and much more in the Chocolate, Cake and Bake Village, afternoon tea in the Vintage Tea Room and fantastic entertainment from award winning unsigned Bristolian bands (thanks to the Unsigned Music Awards who has paired up with the event’s organisation team this year).
Stuck for something to do at the weekend? Look no further…
Tickets range from £10-£20 (£8-£16 concessions) and children under 12 years go free.
