After a nice and toasty bank holiday this weekend, I think it is safe to say that we are all feeling ready for the summer!
There’s something very relaxing about having a drink outside and unwinding after a busy week at work and so below are some of our favourite beer gardens around Bristol…
The White Lion at the Avon Gorge Hotel. A huge sunny terrace overlooking Brunel’s magnificent suspension bridge – need I say any more?! Open from mid-morning, the White Lion’s terrace is great for coffee and cake, a relaxing lunch or even just a glass of wine in the sun.
The Channings in Clifton has a great range of wines, draught beers and cask ales to offer along with a good pub food menu. The garden is lovely and sunny and a great spot for an al fresco catch up with friends.
The George Inn in Abbots Leigh. This pub is only a five minute drive outside of Clifton but I cannot rave about it enough! The George gives a real country feel with beautiful beams throughout inside and has a wonderful family friendly garden too. Food is great, staff are friendly and you can even take a stroll home through Leigh Woods afterwards…absolutely brilliant.
The Cambridge Arms on Coldharbour Road in Redland is a friendly, bustling local with a lovely beer garden for summer. The pub does good home-made food all week long and a great roast on a Sunday too.
If you’re looking for something a bit more lively to kick start your weekend then try The Botanist on the Clifton Triangle. Lovely courtyard, good food and nice and central if there is bunch of you looking to meet up.
Just across the road from the Botanist is Browns. Not really a beer garden as such but the cocktail menu here is FAB and the well known steps outside are a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by.
Finally, a real hidden gem and one of my personal favourites, The Lion in Cliftonwood. A cosy family run pub, this one is a little off of the beaten track but is well worth a visit. The garden is only small but the pub and its staff are just so friendly that any evening, be it summer or any time of year, fun times are guaranteed.
So you know where to head folks…let’s hope the sun is here to stay!
