If you’ve only just realised it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow and it’s got you in a cold sweat, you can breathe a sigh of a relief. Research has shown that the secret to a happy marriage lies in a cheap and cheerful night in… watching a rom-com. The study, involving 174 couples found that those which discussed five films about relationships over a month cut the three-year divorce rate for newlyweds in half.


So there’s no need to dash off to the jewelers or the florists at lunch… just grab yourselves a bag of popcorn!

  • Every year, Americans will spend over 3.6 million on their loved ones for Valentine’s Day.
  • Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day are the two biggest days where mothers get flowers.
  • The oldest surviving Valentine’s Day poem was written on a clay tablet around 3500 B.C. The tablet was from the inventors of writing, the Sumerians. Today, Valentine’s Day poems are writen by children, husbands, boyfriends, grandparents, parents, and friends to show others they care.
