Yes, I know it’s only November but with only six weeks to go, Bristol is well and truly getting into the festive spirit already. With events and things to see galore over the next month or so, we thought we’d put a bit of a list together for you all so that you know what’s on and where…
Bristol Christmas Market
The lights were turned on here last Friday 9th November and the market will run until 23rd December this year. Gifts and festive foodie treats a plenty and open every day on Broadmead in the city centre.
There will also be the Bristol Local Christmas Market open from 30th November too with lots of lovely local producers selling handmade gifts as well as ciders, beers, cheeses and all sort of tasty delights.
The Festival of Light at Longleat
Also opened on Friday, Longleat’s festival will run until 1st January and the theme this year is “A Fantastic Voyage”. With lanterns all over the estate, you’ll be taken on an expedition around the world and this one is a really great day out for the family.
Winter fair and ice rink on Millennium Square
Ice rink, big wheel, film screening, Apres bar, Christmas market…need we say any more?! Millennium Square will be kicking off their festivities this coming Saturday 17th November and will be open daily until 6th January so you have got AGES to pop down and enjoy the fun!
A Christmas Carol at Bristol Old Vic
Bristol Old Vic is brilliant. Each year they take on a new version of a classic Christmas tale and this year it’s a lovely adaptation of the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim. Shows are running from 29th November all the way through to 13th January and tickets can be bought online from just £7.50 each.
Cinderella at the Hippodrome
You can’t have a list of Christmas events without including the pantomime can you?! Opening on 8th December, this year we’ll see Brian Conley and Gok Wan (The Fairy Gokmother) taking the stage in a laugh out loud production of Cinderella and it sounds like it’s one which is definitely not to be missed!
This is of course just a small list of some of the great events that are coming up in the run up to Christmas. Check out websites for St Nicks Market, Arnos Vale, Colston Hall, the Zoo, Blaise castle, Tyntesfield, Cheddar gorge, Westonbirt Arboretum (to name just a few!) and you’ll find lots more fun going on too. Mince pies, mulled wine, gingerbread, hot chocolate, fairy lights, Christmas trees, winter walks…we’re looking forward to it already!
