An insight into Samantha, our lettings negotiator, day…..

A Day in the life of an SK Letting Negotiator
Contrary to popular belief, as a Letting Negotiator my job entails a lot more than whizzing around Clifton in a multi-coloured polka dot fiat 500! (But I can’t deny there is some of that too!)
I get to the office at 8.30am so I can make myself a strong coffee a print off the email enquiries that have come in overnight from websites such Zoopla & Rightmove. By 8.45am the office is buzzing with colleagues and contractors all collecting keys and checking diaries for the day ahead. Once the clock hits 9.00am the answer machine is turned off, the phones start ringing and the Sarah Kenny World of Lettings is in full swing.
I’ll typically leave the office at 9.30 or 10am to go on my first viewing,  we cover quite a large area for just one office, so this could be anywhere from Bedminster to Stoke Bishop. One of my favourite things about my job is that I never know who I’m going to meet on my viewings. I’ve met some really interesting and lovely people as a result of showing them a property and its always great when I help them find their ideal home and they become a Sarah Kenny tenant.
As well as viewings, I am also out of the office when carrying out move-ins. This is the final part of the letting process for me and I can’t help but enjoy sharing in the excitement  ‘moving day’ with the tenants. Whilst on the move I sign all the documentation with the tenants and carry out a full inventory, as well as taking meter reading – this is sometimes easier said than done!
Whilst back in the office in the office I spend a large amount of time registering and contacting applicants. We keep in regular contact with our prospective tenants to ensure that we have their up to date details and search criteria as well as informing them of new properties that we have on the market. Our property lists change quite frequently as do people requirements – it’s a very dynamic industry don’t you know! Other office duties that I partake in include answering emails/phone calls, drawing floorplans, sweet talking relocation agents, attempting to write witty blog articles, and greeting whomever pops in to reception for information, keys, or directions to their stop cock. Monday is a highlight as Jemma and I share bin duty.
At 5.30pm the bulk of the Sarah Kenny contingency clear off home (or to the pub!) and the 3 musketeers (negotiators) are left to carry out viewings and/or finish the remainder of enquires that have come in throughout the working day. The fun and games come to an end at dusk and I walk back to my Clifton flat and make myself a gin and tonic, the strength of which is proportional to the amount stress caused by the aforementioned fun and games.
