So, a couple of weeks back we saw Bar 44 open just a few doors down from us here on Regent Street and on Friday evening, my husband and I popped in for a drink and some nibbles after work – boy is it worth a visit!
Clifton is the fourth restaurant in the small Bar 44 chain and it shows straight away that these guys know what they are doing. The inside is beautifully decorated, staff are all lovely and friendly and the “Tapas y Copas” menus are brilliant.
We only nipped in quickly as were hoping to get a look at the balloons from up at the observatory but whilst we were waiting to see if the evening ascent was going to take place we tucked into Sobrasada with honey on toast, potted Jamon Iberico and some delicious Manchego. We went for some small dishes from the “To pick at” menu but the rest of the selection was huge with all sorts of cheeses and charcuterie along with warm fish, meat and vegetable dishes.
To accompany the tapas is the copas menu which is entirely Spanish. Cava and sparkling wine, sherry (I have my eye on this menu for next time!), Rioja, cervezas, cocktails or Spanish gin and tonics, the bar selection is fantastic and really does have something for everyone…so what are you waiting for?! Be sure to get your table reserved though as we left before 7pm and they were already fully booked for the night.
Bar 44, welcome to Clifton – we love you already!
