It’s that time of year again and here in Bristol we are looking forward to welcoming the Harbour Festival once more this coming weekend. Running from Friday20th – Sunday 22nd July, this is one of Bristol’s biggest events with a stonking 250,000 people attending each year and the line up for 2018 looks set to be a great one as always.
The idea behind the Harbour Festival is of course to celebrate Bristol’s maritime heritage and so the weekend will see ships of all manner arriving into the Floating Harbour aswell as on-water stunt shows, demonstrations (the Newfoundland dogs are lovely if you get a chance to see them), festival fleets and much much more.
New to the programme this time will be the Power8 Sprints with teams from Cambridge, Exeter, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Oxford competing with Bristol on a 350m course. Competition looks set to be pretty fierce and this sounds like it will be well worth a watch on Sunday afternoon!
In addition to all things nautical there will be live music going on in the Lloyds Amphitheatre all weekend (don’t miss Friday night’s opening concert) and even more entertainment aboard the Thekla, at Brunel’s SS Great Britain, The Grain Barge and Redcliffe Wharf bandstand too.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Dancing? Check out the dance village in Millennium Square. Circus entertainment? Cirque Bijou on Queen Square. Street poets? Make sure you head to Cathedral Walk… And as if all of that isn’t enough, there will of course be the huge continental food market on Queen Square too where you can pick up basically every type of tasty food you can imagine.
And to top the weekend off, the entire family-friendly festival is completely FREE! For full details click here and we hope to see you there… 🙂
