When it comes to national treasures, there are not many that can top the complete legend that is Sir David Attenborough. He has been with the BBC since 1952 and since then has made some of the most well known and loved wildlife documentaries the UK has ever known (which have won him multiple awards, several BAFTAs and two Primetime Emmy Awards along the way too). The man has even had at least twenty different wildlife species named in his honour!
There is not a single programme made by David Attenborough which is not well worth a watch and we are just so excited that he is going to be in Bristol tomorrow! For one day only and with a special screening of the first episode of his newest series, “Seven Worlds, One Planet”, the preview will be at the Showcase de Lux cinema in Cabot Circus and will include a live Q&A with him and his multi-award winning production team.
This long awaited series will take us on a journey to the seven continents on Earth to find out what makes each of our seven worlds unique and will also touch on some of the challenges faced by animals in a world dominated by the human race.
The series has been made by the BBC Studio’s Natural History Unit which has been based in Bristol for more than sixty years and Julian Hector (Head of the NHU) is thrilled: “I am so proud and delighted that BBC Studio’s Natural History Unit will be giving our home city a sneak peak of the series before the rest of the world sees it.”
For those who weren’t able to get a ticket for tomorrow night, do not worry as we only need to wait until Sunday for it to be aired on BBC One. At 6.15pm on 27th October I’ll be going nowhere but my sofa and I cannot WAIT!
