Describe a typical day for you at work…
A typical day is hard to describe as no two days are really the same – one of the things we like most about our job is that it’s hugely diverse. Our main role is to help people find their perfect home. Each day we receive enquiries from prospective tenants to which we respond and organise viewing appointments with them. When people find the right property, we then assist them fully through the lettings process until the day they move in at which point we carry out inventory checks and welcome them into their new home. There is of course plenty more including photos, floor plans, regular catch ups with prospective tenants, paperwork…etc so we’re always kept nice and busy!
What do you like most about doing the job?
We love meeting new people every day. It’s great to be out and about around Bristol and also a fantastic way to get to know the city!
What do you think is the most important attribute for a lettings negotiator to have?
One of the most important things about working as a negotiator is without doubt organisation. It is so important for diaries and appointments to be properly prepared and timed throughout the day as one small delay has the potential to then disrupt the rest of your morning or afternoon. There is also a lot to manage in the office in preparation for new tenancies so good communication and time management are absolutely essential at all times.
How can working in the lettings sector be challenging?
There are lots of things to juggle at once which can sometimes be a challenge but we like having different things to do every day and it keeps us on our toes!
What’s your favourite thing about working for Sarah Kenny?
Well, we of course have to mention our amazing spotty cars!
On a more serious note though, we have a great team here in the office and at atmosphere which is hugely professional which means we all work extremely efficiently together. Working as a negotiator is a massively social role and despite being hard work at times, nothing really beats the feeling of seeing how excited people are when you hand them keys to their new place. Moving into a new home is something that can make people so very happy and we absolutely love being a part of it…
