The Matthew of Bristol can be found in the harbour and is a modern reconstruction of the 15th century vessel that the famous John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1947.
Today, the ship is a much-loved part of Bristol’s maritime heritage and when moored at the quayside it offers free entry to visitors.
The Matthew also offers numerous different trips and events and this week it’s “Sea Shanty Fish & Chips”. Enjoy a fish supper aboard the iconic ship whilst cruising around the historic floating harbour. And if that wasn’t enough, there will be fantastic live entertainment from local sea-shanty group, the Harry Browns. The group’s origins can be traced back to the late sixties, so with several decades of experience you are sure to be in for a musical treat!
The evening will start at 6pm on Wednesday of this week (28th September) and the trip will normally last for around 2 hours.
See you all on deck, shipmates!
