As we all know, Bristol is full of great places to grab a bite to eat but we think that Nutmeg in Clifton is something just a little bit special…
The restaurant is independently owned by the lovely Raja and Charlotte and its fantastic menu has been created to express the diversity of dishes which can be found across India’s twenty nine states. The ingredients they use are locally sourced by the likes of Ruby and White and Bristol Sweet Mart and the whole team’s passion for food is immediately obvious when looking at each of the brilliant dishes available.
My husband and I went for dinner a few weeks back and loved every single dish we ordered – lamb Rogan Josh, sweet potato and coconut curry (this had only just been added to the menu when we went and it was delicious), Bombay Aloo (potatoes with tomato and onion) and the Laccha Paratha. Poppadoms to start with were of course a must too and these came with three fantastic freshly made dips (including a fantastic apple one) – a must try for anybody who has not been yet.
And as if that isn’t enough, they also offer a great selection of cocktails. We were out celebrating the purchase of our first house and so treated ourselves to the Espresso Cardamomo (rum, coffee liqueur, espresso and homemade cardamom and espresso syrup) and the Rhubarb and Custard (rhubarb and ginger gin liqueur, dry gin, dry vermouth and vanilla sugar) – both went down very well and come highly recommended!
Nutmeg celebrated its first anniversary last week and we are just so glad to have them! With some of the best Indian food being served in Bristol, we cannot rave about them enough and hope to return very soon. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NUTMEG!
