Looking for something festive to do…?? Look no further, Bristol has gone Christmas crazy!

So, it’s getting dark earlier, there’s a chill in the air…and it’s almost time for Christmas! Bristol has so many events going on this month that there really is something for everybody to do during the festive period.

For those looking for something a little bit different, check out the following that is lined up over the next few weeks…

Until 3rd January 2016, be dazzled by the “Festival of Light” at Longleat. Europe’s largest ever Chinese lantern display will return once more to transform the well know Wiltshire estate into a glowing winter wonderland. With hundreds of illuminated designs (some measuring up to 20 metres in height and 70 metres in length), this year’s display will be centred around the Chinese Qin and Tang dynasties and promise something really quite spectacular! For details see the Longleat website; http://www.longleat.co.uk/festivaloflight

For any theatre lovers amongst you, keep an eye out for “The Light Princess” at the Tobacco Factory Theatre which will be running now until 10th January 2016. Inspired by George MacDonald’s fairy tale, the Tobacco Factory has created a lovely adaptation about an extraordinary princess who has no gravity for this Christmas in association with Peepolykus. Hot on the heels of its successful 101 Dalmatians last year, this Christmas show is one not to be missed. Tickets range from £15-£19 and can be booked online here; https://www.tobaccofactorytheatres.com/shows/the-light-princess/

Looking for something a little more historical? What could be more authentic than a Victorian Christmas aboard Brunel’s SS Great Britain?! Charles Dickens published his novel “A Christmas Carol” in 1843 (the same year that the ship was launched) so this year, the ship’s team are hosting Christmas lunches and dinners on board until the beginning of the New Year. The ship can be hired for exclusive use should there be a big group of you and meals will be Victorian influenced, right down to the very piece of Stollen and slice of turkey!

Finally, make sure you are there for the return of the Wardrobe Theatre with its latest alternative Christmas show, “Goldilock, Stock & Three Smoking Bears”. The Theatre has been off of the scene since the summer time with a move to its new venue in Old Market but they are now back with a bang and are proud to present this darkly comic merging of a classic fairy tale of porridge theft with Guy Ritchie’s cult 1998 film.
Tickets are £10 and the show will run until 17th January 2016.

Keep following us folks as December is not over yet and there is still plenty more to come…
