With the weather taking a turn for the better over the past few weeks, spring has officially sprung and that means only one thing – the return of a multitude of outdoor sporting events!
The Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k is back and will be taking place on Sunday 7th May with over 12,000 runners arriving to run around the city’s picturesque race route. Along with the 10k course which is open to runners age 15 years and over, there is also the Great Bristol Family Run which will take place just after the main race has finished. This mile long track runs along the Harbourside and makes for a fun day out for the whole family together.
The course for the 10k will start on Anchor Road near Millenium Square and begin along the harbour before leading out to the Avon Gorge and passing underneath the Clifton Suspension Bridge. From there it will cross over the river to Spike Island and the Cumberland Basin before returning to the finish line via Redcliffe. Whether you are running your first 10k, looking to achieve a personal best or simply after a fun day to enjoy with family and friends, Simplyhealth is a great event to be part of so be sure to sign up online if you fancy it!
I ran this race last year and have to say that the atmosphere is just incredible. This year, two of us from Sarah Kenny will be taking part and raising money for both Cancer Research UK and Above and Beyond – two amazing charities and we are so very proud to be able to help in donating to each of them. Training is coming along nicely (although there are a few Easter eggs to work off after last weekend!) and we hope to see lots of people there to cheer us and all of the other runners along.
A fantastic event to watch, there plenty for spectators to do also. Entry costs £29 per person and further details can be found online here. We have our trainers at the ready….do you?!
