Save the date for one of Bristol’s main events – the famous Harbour Festival which will this year be celebrating its 45th anniversary. The festival will return from 15th-17th July and promises as ever a weekend packed full of music, entertainment and activities around the city’s harbourside.
This year, the festival will start on Friday 15th July with a special outdoor concert from English rock legends and 80s chart toppers, Echo & the Bunnymen. For Saturday and Sunday, the harbourside will then be completely transformed with over four miles of activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Entertainment will stretch from the Underfall Yard on Cumberland Road right through the city centre and all the way up to Castle Park.
The Harbour Festival actually started as a gathering of boat owners who wanted to ensure that the area was not filled in to make a motorway through the city centre. All these years on and the festival now has music and markets galore with huge variety of maritime events held over the weekend to showcase Bristol’s wonderful heritage.
There will be a visiting boat fleet, tall ships and the occasional pirate ship for all to see as well as a variety of exhibitions along the water front and so many places to eat that you will be completely spoilt for choice.
Anybody just moved to Bristol? This is definitely one which is not to be missed!
