Previously known as the Bristol Half Marathon, this race was first staged in 1989 and soon became a popular event within the city attracting more than 10,000 runners each year.
The race will start at 9.30am this Sunday 25th September with its course running from the historic Harbourside, along the Portway, through the wonderful Avon Gorge, underneath the Cifton Suspension Bridge and then back into the old city before the finish line on Anchor Road.
Runners will be of a variety of different ability levels and a lot of them will be running for different charities so lots of support is needed! I ran the Great Bristol 10k back in May and whilst I’m not quite brave enough to attempt the half marathon, the atmosphere on the day was one I have never experienced before and I will certainly be heading down to the waterfront to cheer all of the wonderful participants on.
I’m not hanging up my running shoes yet however – entries for next year are already open and I’m just about to sign up!
