So, on Saturday morning I was lucky enough to have a massage booked at the Bristol Lido. Since moving to Bristol five years ago, my husband has booked me into the spa each year as a Christmas gift and this time was just as amazing as ever so I thought I’d tell you a little about it for those who have not been yet…
Built and opened for the first time in 1850, the Lido is a beautifully restored Victorian swimming pool tucked away on Southleigh Road. Open all year round it has a heated outdoor 24 meter pool along with a sauna, steam room, outdoor hot tub and a brilliant restaurant to boot – an absolute gem and all right in the middle of Clifton!
The facilities and food at the Lido are absolutely superb, but what makes it particularly special is their fantastic spa which is one of my absolute favourite places to go. There is a lovely selection of treatments to choose from including the classic Lido massage (highly recommended), back, neck and shoulder massage, facial massage, foot, hand and head massage, bamboo or hot stones…and several others too. Each treatment is an hour long, offers a choice of three bespoke oils which are blended especially for the Lido and the therapists are all just lovely. And to top the experience off, once you’re all nice and relaxed, you will be shown into a tea room overlooking the pool where you can put your feet up, wrap up in a blanket and relax for an hour with a hot Pukka tea to unwind a little more – I mean really, is there a more perfect way to spend a Saturday morning?
