With only 11 days to go, here at SK our runners are all upping their games a little and below is the third instalment of our training blog from our associate director, Rebecca…
“I’ve never been particularly sporty even when I was younger but back in 2002, persuaded by someone who worked at Sarah Kenny, Stephy Morgan, I ran my first half marathon with no training whatsoever. It took me days to recover but for some strange reason I did it again the following 2 years. Fast forward several years and two children later, exercise is my way of having some “me time” away from work and children!
At the end of 2016, Stephy sadly died of leukaemia after a very long battle with the disease. I ran the 10k in 2017 to raise money for Above and Beyond, the Bristol hospital’s charity. I’m not running for any specific charity this year but Stephy will always be in my mind when running. Training is going fairly well and although I’m not aiming for any specific time, I cannot let Pete beat me! We both ran a 10k one year and he beat me by 1 second – I still haven’t lived it down.”
Watch this space to see how well training is coming along for the big boss Peter next week. Not long to go now folks…GO TEAM!
